Hi Everyone!
In all honesty, the second trimester has been quite a blur! I can't believe it has already come and gone. When people say that the second trimester is the easiest, they aren't joking. It definitely is! I found myself being sick a lot of the time in my first trimester and then into the beginning of the second, but in middle and end of the second, it was a breeze. No more allergies, more energy, and no more colds!
How did you find out the gender of your baby?
This is something I honestly COULD NOT wait for. I give the moms and dads props that wait till the baby is born to find out the gender, because for me, I just couldn't wait! Plus I was also so excited to get cute little girl or little boy clothes, and also decorate the nursery corner of our bedroom, so i just had to know.We went to a 3D ultra sound place here in San Diego to find out the gender of our little baby! I called this place literally day of, because for some reason, when I decided I wanted to know, I NEEDED to know right then. I called them and asked if they had any appointments that day, and luckily they did. We booked to go in at 6:30 that night to find out. We showed up, signed in, and went back to the room. The tech made me flip and flop over on my left, then to my right, then back on my back, just to make sure she was getting the most accurate picture she could. She finally said "okay i have it", and flipped the colored lights on to PINK! It is a girl!! Chase really was expecting that we would have a boy first, so he was in complete shock when the lights turned to pink. He just sat there with his mouth gaping open like "Oh no, im screwed, she is going to have me wrapped around her finger in a second". He is over the moon ecstatic to be having a little girl, but just didn't expect it. He had completely convinced himself it was a boy!
How did your 20 week Ultrasound go?
At every doctor appointment we have had everything has gone perfectly. Same with my 20 week ultra sound. The doctor brought us into the ultra sound room, pulled the baby up on the screen and measured every part and she was measuring perfectly! Since we had found out a couple weeks earlier that we are having a baby girl it wasn't a surprise to us when the technician told us it was "for sure a girl". We were really happy when the doctor told us there was no sign of a clefting lip or palate because it does run in my side of the family. We were relieved to heare that everything looked good. I purchased this Hospital Cuddle Box from Monica and Andy for her ride home because it is just too cute and SO SO soft! One thing I love about Monica and Andy, besides how cute the prints are, is that all of their clothes are made with GOTS certified organic materials! Do you have a name for the baby yet?
Yes! Once we found out she was a girl, I knew exactly what I wanted to name you. I have told Chase since we started talking about babies that if we had a girl, I wanted to name her his middle name, Kennedy. We decided to go with Kennedy Ann, because Kennedy is his middle name and Ann is mine! I think Kennedy Ann Tucker has a really nice sound to it as well!
We took this picture visiting my grandma in Cole Camp, Missouri for Easter. This was the picture that we used to announce our pregnancy on social media in the very beginning of the second trimester. I was coming down off of the NARLIEST cold I had ever had, which honestly made flying the worst. My ears popped so terribly on takeoff and landing. I have never felt ear popping like that before I was sick the entire Easter trip and poor Chase was up all night for pretty much the whole trip as I coughed and sneezed and tossed and turned.
Have you done anything baby preparation related this trimester?
We went on a tour of the hospital where we are going to give birth to Kennedy, Sharp Mary Birch! My mom was actually born at this hospital too (before it was Sharp Mary Birch) It was great to go to the hospital, see where everything would go down, and kind of go through the procedures of what we need to do before the big day comes. We saw the delivery, recovery and waiting rooms, and the tour guide gave us insider information on food, what to pack, etc. A helpful tip I will remember is to bring a bathing suit for Chase so if I decide to labor in the shower, he can go in there with me.
We actually celebrated out first wedding anniversary during this trimester as well on June 17th! We decided to go to the melting pot, where we went for our first dating anniversary, and the waiter actually brought us out this cute chocolate covered strawberry with "it's a girl" written on the plate! It's crazy to think that for our next wedding anniversary, we will have a new addition to our family! We actually had a conversation about this the other night. There isn't another holiday we will celebrate without our little angel! Our next Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year, 4th of July and everything in between will be blessed with our baby!
If there are any questions you have about this pregnancy so far, feel free to message me and ask! I would be happy to include any questions in my next post!
