Well Ladies and Gents, it's happened!
The Tucker Family will now become a party of three! We are so very blessed that this has happened for us so quickly and we are more than excited to welcome this little one into our family in late September.
Was this pregnancy planned?
Well, I wouldn't say this pregnancy was unplanned. We were trying, and definitely ready for a baby (kinda I mean is anyone ever REALLY READY for a baby??), but we didn't expect that it would happen so quickly for us. We have been so blessed that it has happened this way, and that we didn't struggle, because a lot of people do. We are so happy that we get to experience the start of our growing our family this quickly!
How did you know you were pregnant?
I had been feeling a little nauseous and just different than normal. Then the day came and went when I was supposed to get a visit from all of our favorite monthly visitor, and I knew something was up. I have always been pretty regular, never SUPER regular but within three-ish days (give or take). When the 5th day passed, I knew something was up.
How did you find out?
I had bought some pregnancy tests at Target at my last grocery shopping outing because it was something that crossed my mind a couple times. We were trying so I figured why not have them on hand, just in case? When I started having weird symptoms, I decided I was going to take the test the next morning. I woke up to get ready for work at around 5:30 A.M., and sure enough that thing lit up like a Christmas tree and read "pregnant" almost as soon as I peed on it (SORRY TMI!). The packaging says that it could take up to 3 minutes, but it was almost instant. Obviously, I took two test (picture to the right) just to make sure the first test was accurate, but I really didn't need to because false positives on these tests are very few and far between (hGC levels and stuff).
What was your reaction to finding out you were pregnant?
Honestly, shock. I couldn't believe it. I just kinda sat there staring at the test like "oh man, this is really happening!". I couldn't believe how quickly it happened for Chase and I. We expected to have to try a couple times before we got the positive, but it was almost immediate for us.
How did you tell Chase?
Chase was getting ready for work in the bedroom (I'm almost positive he was putting pants on. I ran out of the bathroom into the bedroom, tripping on the bed, and shoved the test in his face. He just looked at me, stunned, like "no way, is this real?" and I said, "yep! I just took it right now" He couldn't believe it!
How has your first few months of pregnancy been?
So far, My pregnancy has been pretty enjoyable. I haven't had too many symptoms. I think I have had morning sickness once, suffered from a few hormonal headaches, but the thing that is the WORST for me is the exhaustion. I am so so so tired! My Immune system is also super drained because I have been sick on and off since I got pregnant. It's really draining to be so tired and so sick, but I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am slowly gaining back energy and trying to take more vitamins to kick this ongoing cold!
Do you have any weird cravings?
The only thing that I really crave is sugar. Any kind of sugar really. Cookies, Candy, Soda - These were all things I craved pre-pregnancy and I just feel as though it has intensified GREATLY. I also kid of crave buffalo wings. Chase and I got Wing-n-things after our first doctor's appointment, so that's kind of become a tradition now.
When did you first announce your pregnancy?
We announced our pregnancy to our family and friends really early, after our first doctor's appointment at 8 weeks. Typically people wait until the second trimester to announce it, and we did wait to tell actually post it on social media, but we were just so excited that we wanted to tell our families and friends as soon as we knew our little baby had a heart beat.
What was your first doctor appointment like?
The first appointment was actually a lot more nerve racking than I thought it would be! I was so nervous to see if I actually was pregnant (even though two, okay three tests said so), and that our little baby had a heartbeat and was developing like it should. Chase and I went to the doctor together. He has been so supportive throughout this whole process and has been to every one of my appointments! First, they brought us into an exam room, and the nurse came in took my blood pressure, weight, height, etc., just normal "doctory" type things. Then she showed us to the ultrasound room where we got to see our little baby for the first time. Chase and I both cried happy tears (more like Chase shed one tear and I sobbed) when we saw our little baby with it's heartbeat going strong. The doctor said that our baby was an angel because it had a little halo over it's head, but that it might be a little mischievous because the halo was directly over head, and a little off to the side.
Chase and I are so very excited to welcome this new addition to our family. Currently, we do live in a one bedroom one bathroom condo that we own, so It's definitely going to be a tight squeeze with us two, the dog and the cat, but we are determined to make it work (at least for a little while). I will be updating you on how we decide to arrange our room for the baby and more.
I am so happy you have decided to be apart of this journey with us and I can't wait to update you with more details when the time comes!
